Soccer Sucker - or as NBC Kids calls it.. Soccer. But does this episode really.. suck..? Welp, let’s find out!
The
episode begins with Sportacus playing soccer in his airship and it’s
totally cool. He is hitting the ball with his head, kicking it against
the walls, and for the finale, he kicks it back into where it came from,
in the cupboard. Then it comes back flying out and hits him in the head
after he steps on the button (on accident). XD!
The next scene is copied from the 2003 pilot. Pixel and Ziggy (in the
2003 version they look completely horrendous unlike in the final show)
are playing a football video game. Stephanie comes in a sxux as jumper
(not in pilot) and asks to play soccer. They say they already are, but
then Stephanie tells them what she means and opens the window to look at
the lovely day and it hurts their eyes.
Then the 2003 copy stops there. Ziggy is convinced and so is Pixel.
Surprising. So they go outside ad practice kicking the ball and Pixel
kicks it straight into a trash can. No idea why the kids were laughing
at him, it landed right into the bin! But he is ashamed and decides to
go back inside.
He
says he thinks he is just a stay-at-home,
do-nothing-but-play-on-the-computer guy. There’s a shorter term for
that. Greg Heffley calls it an Indoor Person. So, the kids are playing
soccer, and Stephanie kicks it into Robbie’s lair and it lands on his
cake.
Robbie
finds out what they’re doing and he says he must stop them from playing
soccer. Then he gets an advertisement for a soccerbot to stop kids from
playing soccer.
He
phones the company delivering them and he asks for a soccerbot, and he
gets a soccerbot two seconds later. He says he will stop those kids from
ever ever playing soccer. Then Playtime is performed .
I wish the song was longer (Nick Jr. Radio version is). Sportacus
climbs out his airship and joins the kids’ game of soccer. Sportacus
kicks the ball a bit hard and hits an eavesdropping Robbie.
Robbie
goes up to them, and surprisingly, they’re happy to see Robbie! He asks
for a friendly game of soccer against Sportacus and Stephanie says he
isn’t afraid of him.. then he goes away for a comically long time to get
in the soccer bot. Pretty funny. He throws away the manual. (Important
zoom in) Then once he comes back, everyone starts doubting it. I don’t
get it! Everyone knows about the amazing things he has done and they do
not have faith in him?
But
he’s Sportacus and he is determined. So, he says he is ready to play
and Stephanie goes to tell Milford who is phoning Bessie. (Lovebirds.
xd!) Milford tells Bessie about the soccer game and asks her to be the
scorer. Pixel hears the announcement and he says that’s crazy.
Would
be less crazier if you didn’t doubt yourself all the time! Milford
explains the game to Bessie (a.k.a. the young viewers) before they
start, and I am surprised one of her gossiping friends didn’t explain
over the phone. For a while, Sportacus is kicking the ball around but
the SoccerBot trips him and scores a goal.
It’s
a pretty intense game for a show targeted at 6 year olds. In the end,
the Soccer Bot ends up with seven and SPORTacus ends up with one point. He has sports in the name, how did he NOT win??
As you can assume, nobody is happy at all except Robbie who hilariously
chants ‘I’M NUMBER ONE!’ Sportacus himself is pretty chill about it.
But
the Soccer Bot wants to play again and he kicks a cupboard full of
soccer balls open. You’ve had your victory, chill out! Robbie thinks so
too and he wants to get out but he breaks the hatch.
If
the show was more realistic, he’d never get out of there, but the
writers want to make it as kid friendly as possible. But I think realism
is better, you can’t expect everything to go amazing for the goodies.
The machine starts kicking balls all over LazyTown and it’s become a
danger hazard. Thanks to plot armor, Stephanie gets the manual without
getting hit by a ball.
It
turns out the only way to stop the Soccer Bot is to beat it in a game
of soccer. Go figure you can’t just click a button to do that. The power
of teamwork comes in handy when they decide to rematch it together.
They all walk in slow motion, and it looks cooler then it was intended
to be. Angry Ziggy is a treasure.
The
game is not going very well, like I thought. But did you see how hard
Milford kicked the ball in Records Day? He should’ve joined. Sportacus
tells the kids that one person could make a difference and Stephanie
practically begs Pixel to join. But his data says playing soccer isn’t
his thing and the computer says there is no chance of them winning.
Stephanie says that it’s okay to trust computers, but better to trust
yourself Meanwhile, the kids? They’re improving, shockingly! Bot has
five and they have three. Pixel realizes the computer is wrong and he
gets up from his desk.
Coincidence
he joins the game as soon as they get another goal, NOT! Anyways, he
makes the winning goal by hitting the ball with his head, they sing Bing Bang
and the episode ends. But, in the lair, Robbie promises himself to not
move a muscle ever again until the Soccer Bot comes to life and starts
chasing Robbie in anger he lost. He (the bot) says he just wants a hug.
Funniest. Ending. Ever.
10/10 : The moral can easily apply to everyone who owns a device, and it almost makes soccer look fun! VIDEO
